Most family portraits are very stiff and posed. We like to think that the photographer wanted to catch us in an easy relaxed pose. Actually, he was just shooting a roll of film, and the photo you see here is a shot he took between posed photos. Unfortunately, this is the only photo of this DeCosta family together that has survived the years. At least this is the only picture that we have been able to locate. As a Navy family we moved around from one side of the great U.S.A. to the other, and many times, things would disappear in the moves.
